Georgetown, TX (June 5, 2025) — A crash involving two 18-wheelers shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 35 early Wednesday morning and sent both drivers to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Georgetown Police.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 2:40 a.m. near the Southeast Inner Loop. Authorities say the driver of a box truck veered off the roadway, overcorrected, and struck the center median, causing the truck to flip onto its side. Moments later, a UPS truck hauling two trailers collided with the overturned vehicle in the middle lane.
Emergency responders transported both drivers to a nearby hospital. All southbound lanes of I-35 were closed for several hours following the crash, with traffic diverted to the frontage road at Exit 259.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: While the investigation continues, authorities will examine whether driver fatigue, distraction, reaction time, braking distance, or mechanical issues contributed to the collision.
Depending on the investigation’s findings, the injured drivers may be entitled to pursue personal injury claims to help with medical costs, lost wages, and other costs associated with the collision.
I wish both drivers a full recovery.
