Two-Truck Crash Near Cuesta Grade Injures Gary Brennan and Jerell Cryer

Cuesta Grade, CA (February 6, 2025) – A serious two-truck collision on southbound Highway 101 near the bottom of Cuesta Grade left Gary Brennan and Jerell Cryer with major injuries Thursday morning.

Accident Details: According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred just before 6:45 a.m. when one of the trucks overturned, spilling approximately 75 gallons of diesel onto the roadway. Hazmat teams from Cal Fire and the local Environmental Health Agency were called to contain the spill, which was cleared by noon. Officials confirmed that no hazardous material reached sensitive habitats or water sources.

Both truck drivers had to be extracted from their vehicles and were transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The collision caused extensive traffic backups, with drivers stuck for hours. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Multi-truck collisions on major highways often require complex investigations to determine fault and liability. Investigators will review the two drivers’ behavior, including speeding, impairment, or other signs of reckless driving. Investigators will also determine if any road defects or mechanical failure contributed to the accident.

Brennan and Cryer may have grounds to pursue personal injury claims to recover compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

I wish Gary Brennan and Jerell Cryer a full recovery from their injuries. My thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic accident.
