Two Oceanside Officers Injured in Head-On Collision With Stolen Jeep in Bonsall

Bonsall, CA (June 14, 2025) — Two Oceanside police officers were hospitalized Saturday evening after a stolen Jeep Gladiator struck their patrol vehicle head-on during a pursuit involving three juvenile suspects.

Incident Details: The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Via Puerta Del Sol and Paseo Del Lagos in Bonsall. According to authorities, the Jeep had been reported stolen earlier in the day and was involved in at least two previous pursuits before the final chase ended in a violent collision.

During the pursuit, the suspects drove the Jeep off-road before crashing into two marked Oceanside Police Department patrol vehicles. Two officers occupied one of the patrol cars at the time of the collision. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles, and fellow officers quickly assisted the injured officers to a waiting ambulance. The officers were transported to a local trauma center with injuries described only as non-life-threatening.

Emergency personnel also evaluated the three juveniles in the Jeep. One was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, and all three were detained at the scene. Police later confirmed that a firearm was found inside the stolen vehicle.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The circumstances of this crash are under investigation, and authorities will examine the circumstances behind the stolen vehicle, driver conduct, or road conditions that contributed to the crash.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the injured officers may be able to pursue personal injury claims to recover the costs associated with their medical care, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

My thoughts are with the injured officers and their families as they recover.
