Two Killed in South LA Crash After Suspected Red-Light Violation

Los Angeles, CA (May 5, 2025) –  A violent crash at a South Los Angeles intersection early Monday morning left two people dead and sent two others to the hospital, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Accident Details: The collision occurred around 5:11 a.m. in the 6600 block of South Vermont Avenue. the SUV was traveling south on Vermont Avenue when the driver allegedly ran a red light and struck another eastbound vehicle on 66th Street. The impact was severe, and both occupants of the second vehicle died at the scene. Initial reports indicated that a male driver in the SUV had fled the scene, but police later confirmed that both he and a passenger from the SUV were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: When a crash involves allegations of running a red light and results in fatalities, the consequences are severe. Investigators will likely review traffic signal data, surveillance footage, skid marks, and witness statements to determine what happened.

If the evidence confirms that one driver ran a red light and caused the crash, the families of the victims may have the right to pursue wrongful death claims

I extend my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the two victims whose lives were lost in this devastating crash.
