Kaneville Township, IL (July 23, 2025) – Two Sycamore residents were injured after their Toyota Camry collided with a semi-trailer at the intersection of Perry Road and E. County Line Road on Wednesday morning.
Accident Details: The semi-truck, driven by a 32-year-old Riverdale man, was heading west on Perry Road and failed to yield at a stop sign. The Camry, driven by a 66-year-old Sycamore man, was traveling south on E. County Line Road, with no stop sign at the intersection. The semi pulled into the intersection in front of the Camry, and they collided.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived to find the car trapped beneath the trailer in a roadside ditch. The Camry driver was airlifted to a hospital, and his 90-year-old female passenger was transported by ambulance to a different facility. Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The truck driver was cited for failing to yield at a stop intersection, but he was not injured in the crash.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The investigative focus is to reconstruct the accident. Failure to yield is a common cause of vehicle collisions. Investigators will look to the intersection design, signage clarity, black box data, and the possibility of driver distraction or fatigue.
Victims of trucking accidents may face significant injuries that cause extensive financial, physical, and emotional consequences.
Depending on the investigation’s findings, the injured parties may be able to file personal injury claims to recover compensation for their damages.
I wish both injured individuals a full and swift recovery.
