Rockaway Township, NJ (March 28, 2025) – A six-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 80 Friday morning left two people seriously injured, according to New Jersey State Police.
Incident Details: The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. when a tractor-trailer struck a dump truck, triggering a chain reaction involving four additional vehicles. The impact ejected the dump truck driver and passenger from their vehicle, both of whom sustained serious injuries. Their current conditions have not been released.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are reviewing the cause of the crash, including whether the tractor-trailer driver failed to maintain a safe following distance or was speeding. Multi-vehicle pileups raise complex liability issues, especially when commercial vehicles are involved. Injured parties may have grounds to pursue personal injury claims for compensation related to medical treatment, lost income, and long-term care. The possibility of driver negligence or mechanical failure will likely be central to the investigation.
Wishing a full and swift recovery to all those injured.
