Marengo, IL (July 28, 2025) – Two people were hospitalized following a three-vehicle crash involving a semi truck Monday morning on Route 23 near Marengo, temporarily shutting down the roadway.
Accident Details: According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. in the 7100 block of Route 23. A semi truck, SUV, and passenger car were involved in the collision. Two people sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Emergency crews closed Route 23 between River Road and South Union Road for over an hour during the response.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are investigating the sequence of events that led to the crash. Investigators will assess whether speed, lane changes, vehicle spacing, or truck braking distance played a role.
