Redding, CA (May 6, 2025) – A crash on northbound Interstate 5 Tuesday night sent two people to the hospital with injuries after a driver careened down an embankment and collided with a semi-truck hauling a tanker trailer, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Accident Details: Authorities say the driver of a Cadillac SUV on Hilltop Drive drove down the embankment and entered northbound Interstate 5. It crashed into a semi-truck. The impact caused the semi to roll over onto its side. A third vehicle then sideswiped the overturned truck during the accident.
Two people were transported to the hospital with moderate to major injuries. Their current conditions have not been released. Traffic was significantly impacted as emergency crews responded. The driver of the Cadillac is under investigation for possible DUI, according to the Redding Police Department.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Investigators will likely assess toxicology results, eyewitness accounts, surveillance or dashcam footage, brake and skid marks on the highway, and speed data. The goal is to reconstruct the accident and determine what happened.
Depending on the investigation’s findings, the injured may be able to file a personal injury claim.
I wish the injured a fast recovery.
