MOORPARK, CA (June 26, 2025) – A semi-truck driver was killed Thursday when a train collided with his vehicle in Moorpark, causing a fiery wreck and prompting a large emergency response, according to local authorities.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 4:00 p.m. near the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue and Moorpark Avenue. Officials say a Metrolink train struck a semi-truck that was on the tracks, pushing it several hundred feet and igniting a fire. The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Four train passengers were also injured and transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are investigating why the semi-truck was on the tracks at the time of the crash. Investigators from Metrolink, local law enforcement, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are reviewing signal data, train speed records, and witness accounts. It remains unclear whether the driver attempted to cross while the signals were active or was stuck on the tracks.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the truck driver and hope for a swift recovery for those injured.
