Driver Hospitalized After Train Hits Truck in Parkville

Parkville, MO (March 18, 2025) – A driver was hospitalized Tuesday morning after a train struck their truck near NW River Park Drive and the Missouri River Front Trail. The crash occurred around 9:20 a.m., about a mile east of downtown Parkville.

Incident Details: According to Parkville police, the truck was leaving a business in the 7600 block of NW River Park Drive when it was struck by an oncoming train. Investigators believe the vehicle was too close to the tracks at the crossing when the front of the truck was hit. The driver sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital, but officials stated the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Crashes at railroad crossings often raise concerns about visibility, signage, and driver awareness. Investigators will likely assess whether the crossing was properly marked and whether the driver had enough warning to clear the tracks safely. If negligence or inadequate safety measures played a role, the injured driver may have grounds for a personal injury claim to recover damages for medical expenses and other losses.

I hope for a full recovery for the injured driver.
