Three Killed, Two Injured in Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-75 in Georgia

Calhoun, GA (May 13, 2025) — A devastating chain-reaction crash involving multiple semi-trucks and passenger vehicles left three people dead and two others injured Tuesday morning on Interstate 75 near Calhoun, according to the Georgia State Patrol and Gordon County Sheriff’s Office.

Incident Details: Authorities say the crash began when a northbound semi-trailer collided with a car, causing the truck to cross the median into southbound traffic. Once in the southbound lanes, the semi collided with two other semi-trucks, a pickup truck, and another car. One of the vehicles, a pickup truck, caught fire following the impact.

In total, six vehicles were involved in the wreck. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were transported to area hospitals, though their conditions have not yet been released. Aerial footage showed wreckage scattered across the highway, including a semi-truck crumpled in a ditch and another partially off the roadway.

The collision shut down all southbound lanes of I-75 for several hours as emergency crews responded and investigators began processing the scene. The identities of the victims have not yet been made public, pending notification of their families.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation. Authorities will evaluate whether driver error, fatigue, speed, or a mechanical failure contributed to the crash.

Depending on the findings, wrongful death and personal injury claims could be pursued by the families of those killed or injured. Such claims may seek compensation for medical costs, funeral expenses, loss of income, and emotional trauma.

I extend my condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wish for a full recovery for the injured.
