Adelanto, CA (February 7, 2025) – Two Adelanto residents, 44-year-old Rogelio Hernandez and 41-year-old Jamie Hernandez, and 20-year-old Palmdale resident Jose Silva lost their lives in a fatal head-on collision that occurred early Friday morning in Adelanto.
Accident Details: According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred around 5:55 a.m. on El Mirage Road. Silva was driving a red Honda Civic eastbound. According to preliminary investigations, his vehicle crossed the center divider and collided head-on with a westbound gray Chevrolet Tahoe occupied by Rogelio Hernandez and Jamie Hernandez. Three additional passengers in the Tahoe were transported to local hospitals with injuries. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.
Investigation: The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) is investigating. Authorities have asked anyone with information about the crash to contact them.
Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Due to the high-impact forces involved, head-on collisions often result in severe injuries and fatalities. The focus will be on why Silva crossed into the other lane. Investigators will analyze several factors, including driver behavior, road conditions, and mechanical failure.
Depending on the investigation’s findings, the families of Rogelio Hernandez, Jamie Hernandez, and Jose Silva may have grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Compensation may cover funeral costs, loss of financial support, and emotional distress. The injured passengers in the Tahoe may be able to pursue personal injury claims to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages.
I offer my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of Rogelio Hernandez, Jamie Hernandez, and Jose Silva. I also wish for the full recovery of the injured passengers.
