Santa Barbara County, CA (June 2, 2025) — Three people were injured Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 just north of the Nojoqui Summit, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Incident Details: The collision occurred shortly after noon in the northbound lanes of Highway 101, south of Buellton. Fire Captain Scott Safechuck reported that one of the vehicles left the roadway and came to rest approximately 10 to 20 feet off the highway.
A man and a woman in one vehicle sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported by AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. A woman in the second vehicle was treated for minor injuries and taken to Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital. None of the victims’ names or updated conditions have been released.
Emergency crews temporarily shut down the right-hand lane of the highway to tend to the injured and clear the wreckage.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, with a focus likely to include whether either driver made unsafe lane changes, failed to yield, or lost control of their vehicle.
Depending on the findings, those injured may be eligible to pursue personal injury claims for compensation for medical treatment, pain and suffering, and other damages.
I wish all those injured in this crash a full and swift recovery.
