Two Killed, Five Injured After Tesla Crashes Into Bus in Orange County

Fullerton, CA (April 12, 2025) – Two people were killed and five others injured in a violent crash early Saturday morning after a Tesla ran a red light and slammed into both a pickup truck and an Orange County Transit Authority bus in Fullerton.

Incident Details: According to the Fullerton Police Department, the Tesla was traveling westbound on East Orangethorpe Avenue shortly before 7 a.m. when it failed to stop at a red light. The vehicle collided with a Toyota pickup truck and then careened into a public bus. The female passenger in the Tesla died at the scene, while the male driver was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Five passengers aboard the OCTA bus sustained minor injuries and were also hospitalized.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, including whether alcohol or drugs played a role. The driver’s failure to stop at a red light raises serious legal concerns, including potential civil liability for wrongful death and personal injury claims by the injured bus passengers. Investigators will review traffic camera footage, vehicle black box data, and driver history as part of the inquiry.
