Oakdale Teen Dustin Pace Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Highway 132

Modesto, CA (June 8, 2024) – An Oakdale teen, 19-year-old Dustin Pace, tragically lost his life on Saturday afternoon after crashing his motorcycle on Highway 132/Yosemite Boulevard, east of Roberts Ferry.

Incident Facts: According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred around 2:25 PM. Pace, riding a 2006 Suzuki, was traveling eastbound when he attempted to make a left turn onto Crabtree Road. He lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a barbed-wire fence. Pace was thrown from the motorcycle. Despite wearing a helmet, he died at the scene. CHP said they are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find several key aspects in this case that warrant close examination. If negligence exists, the family of Dustin Pace may be able to file a wrongful death claim.

Road Conditions and Maintenance: One of the primary areas of investigation would be the condition of the road where the accident occurred. Factors such as road quality, debris presence, signage, and overall maintenance can play a significant role in accidents. If poor road conditions contributed to the crash, the entity responsible for maintaining that stretch of highway could be held liable.

Mechanical Failure: Investigating the mechanical condition of the 2006 Suzuki motorcycle is also essential. Any mechanical failures, such as brake issues or tire problems, could have contributed to the loss of control. If a mechanical defect is discovered, the manufacturer or a repair service company could be liable.

Helmet and Protective Gear: While Dustin Pace was wearing a helmet, it’s important to assess whether the helmet met safety standards and if it provided adequate protection. If the helmet was defective or failed to perform as expected, there might be a product liability case against the manufacturer.

My condolences to the family and friends of Dustin Pace during this difficult time. I hope further investigation provides answers to the cause of the accident.
