31-Year-Old Sacramento Woman Killed, Passenger Injured in Semi-Truck Crash in Sutter County

Sutter County, CA (August 26, 2025) – A 31-year-old Sacramento woman was killed and her passenger seriously injured after a collision with a semi-truck at a rural Sutter County intersection Tuesday morning.

Accident Details: The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. at Obanion Road and South George Washington Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2025 Toyota Camry east on Obanion Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection. At the same time, a semi-truck pulling double dump trailers loaded with dirt was traveling southbound.

The semi-truck driver attempted to stop but struck the driver’s side of the Camry, pushing it into an orchard. The driver, a 31-year-old woman from Sacramento, was killed on impact. Her passenger, a 30-year-old woman also from Sacramento, suffered major injuries. She was first taken to Adventist Health + Rideout and then airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center for advanced treatment. Sutter County Fire crews extricated both women from the vehicle. The semi-truck driver was uninjured and remained at the scene.

Investigation: CHP reported that the intersection is controlled by two stop signs for traffic on Obanion Road. Authorities are continuing to investigate the collision, focusing on traffic control compliance, speed, and roadway visibility.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the woman who lost her life and wish her passenger a full and swift recovery.
