Omro Township, Minnesota (November 24, 2025) — A collision between two semi-trucks at a rural intersection in Yellow Medicine County left one driver with life-threatening injuries and another hospitalized Monday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Incident Details: The crash occurred around 11:35 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 67 and County Road 11 in Omro Township. State troopers reported that a northbound 2023 Freightliner traveling on County Road 11 and an eastbound 2015 Peterbilt traveling on Highway 67 entered the intersection at the same time and collided.
The driver of the Freightliner, Steven J. Iwiringi, 34, of Tooele, Utah, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Dawson Emergency Room for treatment. The Peterbilt driver, Cody Leroy Johnson, 25, of Granite Falls, Minnesota, was also taken to the Dawson ER with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Authorities noted that road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, Canby Fire and Ambulance, Clarkfield Fire and Ambulance, and Dawson Ambulance.
Investigation: The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. In crashes involving commercial vehicles at rural intersections, investigators typically focus on right-of-way determination, visibility, and whether traffic control devices were present and obeyed.
Investigators are expected to examine physical evidence from the scene, including vehicle damage, debris patterns, and final resting positions, to determine how the semis entered the intersection and whether either driver had sufficient opportunity to avoid the collision.
