St. Lucie County Semi-Truck Crash Leaves Three Dead; Truck Driver Arrested for Vehicular Homicide

St. Lucie County, FL (August 12, 2025) – A tragic collision on Florida’s Turnpike claimed the lives of three individuals after a semi-truck attempted an illegal U-turn.

Accident Details: According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), the semi-truck driver, Harjinger Singh, was allegedly driving recklessly before attempting an illegal U-turn near mile marker 170 on Florida’s Turnpike. This maneuver caused a minivan to crash into the side of the commercial truck.

The force of the collision killed two passengers, a 37-year-old woman from Pompano Beach and a 54-year-old man from Miami, instantly. The minivan driver, a 30-year-old man from Florida City, was airlifted to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Florida State Troopers obtained an arrest warrant charging Singh with three counts of vehicular homicide.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Investigators will examine dash cam footage, witness statements, and vehicle positioning to recreate the scene. The families of the three victims may have grounds to pursue compensation for funeral costs, medical expenses, and the emotional toll of losing a loved one.

I offer my condolences to the families and loved ones of the three victims.
