Victorville, CA (July 31, 2024) – In the early hours of Wednesday, July 31, 2024, a severe collision between a semi-truck and a sedan on National Trails Highway resulted in serious injuries to the occupants of the sedan.
Accident Details: The accident occurred around 1:04 a.m., near the intersection of Wilderness Court and National Trails Highway. According to initial reports, the collision involved a gray Nissan Sentra and a blue Peterbilt 389 tractor-trailer. Emergency personnel and law enforcement were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found that the occupants of the Nissan Sentra, Francisco Contreras, 23, and Alexis Franco, 25, sustained major injuries. Both were transported to an out-of-area trauma center for emergency medical treatment.
Investigation: The Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is conducting an in-depth investigation to determine the cause of the crash. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Investigators will scrutinize factors such as driver fatigue, speed, or possible driving under the influence. Each of these can significantly impact liability and the potential for claims. Investigators will also look into other factors, such as the semi-truck driver’s adherence to traffic laws, potential mechanical failures, and road conditions. If the truck driver was found to be at fault, their employer could also be liable under vicarious liability principles.
Depending on the outcome of the investigation, Contreras and Franco may be able to file a personal injury claim.
I wish Francisco Contreras and Alexis Franco a fast recovery. My sincerest condolences are with them and their family as they deal with this terrible ordeal.
