San Jose, CA (July 26, 2025) – A San Jose police officer was injured in a head-on collision Saturday afternoon while responding to an emergency.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Story Road near Hopkins Drive. According to police, the officer was driving with lights and sirens activated when another vehicle crossed into the lane and collided with the patrol unit.
The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The other driver remained on scene and cooperated. Investigators will evaluate whether the officer’s lights/sirens were visible, and whether the other driver was distracted or failed to yield. Injured officers may also qualify for workers’ compensation.
