Escondido, CA (January 25, 2025) – Samuel Calloway, 32, a former U.S. Marine, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash on January 25 while crossing Rock Springs Road near Seven Oakes Road.
Accident Details: Calloway was struck by a green or teal-colored pickup truck around 6 p.m. The driver fled the scene without stopping to provide aid or call 911. Calloway leaves behind a devastated fiancée and young daughter. His family, as well as investigators, urge anyone with information about the hit-and-run to come forward.
Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Hit-and-run incidents involving fatalities may carry both criminal and civil consequences. California law requires drivers involved in any collision to stop, provide assistance, and report the incident. In addition to potential criminal charges, if caught, the hit-and-run driver may face a wrongful death claim brought by Calloway’s family. The claim could seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and emotional trauma.
I extend my deepest condolences to Samuel Calloway’s family and loved ones. I hope that the investigation leads to closure and accountability.
