Sacramento, CA (August 6, 2025) – A National Guardsman was killed Wednesday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle in the North Natomas area of Sacramento. Authorities allege the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.
Incident Details: The Sacramento Police Department reported the collision occurred just after 3:15 p.m. at Del Paso and El Centro roads. First responders pronounced the pedestrian, identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 19-year-old Ricky Rey Reyes, Jr., dead at the scene. The driver, whose name has not been released, was transported to a local hospital. Officials have not disclosed the extent of the driver’s injuries. The car came to rest in a small ditch off the road with significant damage.
Investigation: The Sacramento Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, including allegations of driving under the influence. Eastbound Del Paso Road was closed near El Centro Road during the investigation. No arrests or charges have been formally announced at this time.
