Cooperstown, IN (July 1, 2025) – Rusty Rickard, 27, of Ripley, was killed Saturday in a collision involving his motorcycle and a pickup truck at the intersection of County Road 950N and 1400E Street in Brown County.
Accident Details: According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Rickard was riding east on County Road 950N when his motorcycle collided with a truck driven by Cody Whitaker of Mount Sterling. Rickard was pronounced dead at the scene. Whitaker was cited for failing to yield.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Local authorities are continuing their investigation, examining right-of-way protocols and any potential contributing factors. Whitaker’s failure to yield suggests driver negligence, and Rickard’s family may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim under Indiana law.
