Indianapolis, IN (March 19, 2025) – Ronald Lee Kortz II, 53, was killed Tuesday afternoon in a collision between his motorcycle and a UPS truck at East 32nd Street and North Keystone Avenue.
Incident Details: According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to the crash just before 5:15 p.m. and found Kortz unconscious on the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released further details on what led to the collision.
The crash caused significant road closures, with Keystone Avenue shut down between 30th and 32nd streets for several hours while investigators worked at the scene. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s fatal crash team is handling the investigation.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Fatal motorcycle accidents often raise questions about visibility, right-of-way, and driver attentiveness. Investigators will likely examine whether the UPS truck driver or Kortz had the right-of-way and if factors such as speeding, distraction, or failure to yield played a role. If negligence is found, Kortz’s family may have grounds for a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for their loss.
My deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Ronald Lee Kortz II.
