Ricky Kemp Killed in a Suspected Intentional Collision in Hesperia

Hesperia, CA (September 14, 2024) – A tragic accident claimed the life of 35-year-old Ricky Kemp, who was reportedly run over intentionally.

Accident Details: On September 14, Kemp walked with his cousin near Cataba Road and Main Street around 6:30 a.m. Surveillance footage from a nearby store captured the harrowing moments when Kemp and his cousin were confronted by a Chevy Tahoe driven by John Wynn, a 44-year-old transient. The video shows the vehicle chase them through the parking lot. Despite their efforts to evade the car, Kemp was struck, the force of the collision propelling him onto the roadway.

The SUV sustained significant front-end damage, including a cracked windshield and broken headlights. Witnesses reported seeing Wynn, who was later found near the scene, stop after hitting Kemp, only to back up and drive away, leaving Kemp lying on the ground. Kemp was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation: Wynn was arrested later and is currently held without bail on suspicion of murder. The motive for this tragic event remains unclear, leaving Kemp’s family and friends desperate for answers.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. If evidence indicates that John Wynn deliberately ran over Kemp, this could establish grounds for a wrongful death claim. The surveillance footage and witness accounts suggest an intentional act, but a thorough investigation is essential to confirm the details.

I offer my sincerest condolences to Ricky Kemp’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Kemp is remembered as “a good soul” who “was always smiling.” His family has initiated a GoFundMe page to cover funeral expenses and held a vigil to honor his memory.
