Lamberton, MN (August 4, 2025) — A 65-year-old man from Lamberton was injured Monday afternoon when his SUV collided with a semi-truck at a Redwood County intersection, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Incident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 2:46 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 14 and County Road 6. Ricky Hammerschmidt was driving south on County Road 6 when his SUV collided with an eastbound semi-truck driven by 33-year-old Gary Beesecker of Houston. Hammerschmidt sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to North Memorial Hospital. Beesecker and a passenger in the semi were uninjured.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The investigation is ongoing, and authorities will examine whether right-of-way, visibility, speed, and possible mechanical failure were involved. In this case, the crash occurred at a rural intersection where line of sight and road signage may be critical in determining fault.
Depending on the investigation’s findings, Mr. Hammerschmidt could file a personal injury claim to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
I wish Mr. Hammerschmidt a full and speedy recovery.
