Raymond Naba Critically Injured After Wrong-Way Driver Collision

Sherman Oaks, CA (February 11, 2025) – About two weeks ago, a wrong-way crash occurred in Sherman Oaks, just south of Ventura Boulevard, critically injuring Raymond Naba.

A male driver, suspected to be Eduard Membrano, was allegedly traveling northbound in the southbound lanes and collided head-on with 44-year-old Raymond Naba at approximately 4:00 a.m. The wrong-way driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mr. Naba suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

As a personal injury attorney, I find several key aspects in this case that warrant close examination. Mainly, I have questions regarding how the driver ended up traveling the wrong direction in the first place and whether fatigue or distraction were factors.

How Did the Wrong-Way Driver Enter the Freeway?

Wrong-way crashes are often the result of impaired driving, but other causes, such as fatigue or distraction, should be examined. Authorities will need to look at the driver’s movements prior to the accident and may even want to look at their cell phone data to see if either factor into this case. They should also examine the wrong-way vehicle’s engine control module to see if it has any data about throttle, steering, or braking inputs immediately before the collision.

Legal Considerations and Potential Claims

When a serious crash leads to catastrophic injuries, victims and their families often face mounting medical bills and lost income. In cases like this, pursuing a claim for catastrophic injuries may provide financial relief. However, a thorough investigation is needed to determine all potential sources of recovery. In my experience as an attorney, initial reports don’t always provide the full story.
