Piñon Hills, CA (October 12, 2025) – One person suffered critical injuries early Sunday morning when a pickup truck and a big rig collided on Highway 138 near Wintergreen Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 5:24 a.m. and involved a black Toyota Tacoma and a Freightliner semi-truck hauling produce. Emergency responders arrived to find the pickup’s driver trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters extricated the victim, and a Reach 13 air ambulance transported them to a trauma center with critical injuries. The semi-truck driver remained at the scene and was evaluated by medics. Both directions of Highway 138 were shut down for an extended period to allow the helicopter to land and crews to remove debris from the roadway.
