Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Two Vehicles on 5 Freeway in Anaheim

Anaheim, CA (March 31, 2025) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by two vehicles early Monday morning on the southbound Interstate 5 Freeway, north of Lincoln Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Incident Details: The crash was reported at 2:03 a.m. A witness stated that a truck initially struck the pedestrian in the middle lanes of the freeway. Shortly afterward, a Honda Civic also collided with the pedestrian. A SigAlert was issued at 2:18 a.m., closing all southbound lanes and the Euclid Street on-ramp. The far-right lane reopened at 3:11 a.m., and full traffic access was restored around 7 a.m., though significant delays stretched back to Valley View Avenue.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities are investigating why the pedestrian was on the freeway and whether either driver was in a position to avoid the collision. In such cases, liability may depend on the pedestrian’s presence in the roadway and whether either vehicle was speeding or failed to react appropriately. The family of the deceased may still be entitled to bring a wrongful death claim depending on the findings, particularly if roadway lighting, signage, or driver behavior played a contributing role.

Our condolences go out to the loved ones of the victim.
