Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck in Chickasha

Chickasha, OK (March 12, 2025) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a semi-truck Wednesday afternoon near Interstate 44 and Highway 81, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP). Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.

Incident Overview: The incident occurred around 2:07 p.m. at the I-44 off-ramp near mile marker 80, where a Peterbilt semi-truck struck a pedestrian along South 4th Street. Emergency responders pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The individual’s identity has not been publicly released, pending confirmation and notification by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The 46-year-old truck driver, Jeremy L. Stafford, did not sustain any injuries. No further details have been provided about the events leading to the crash.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The OHP is continuing its investigation. Officials are evaluating whether the pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway, the driver’s actions, and whether environmental or roadway conditions contributed to the incident. The review may also examine driver attentiveness, visibility, signage, and traffic control measures.

Depending on the findings, the victim’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit, which could seek compensation for funeral expenses, emotional distress, and other related losses.

My deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.
