Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Gardena, Driver Arrested

Gardena, California (September 6, 2025) — A pedestrian was killed Saturday in a hit-and-run crash in Gardena, and police later arrested the driver believed to be responsible.

Incident Details: The collision happened near the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue and Budlong Avenue. Authorities reported that the victim was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead. The suspected driver was later located and arrested.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Gardena Police Department is continuing its investigation into the circumstances of the crash. Hit-and-run incidents that result in death often bring felony charges, including vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident. From a civil perspective, the victim’s family may pursue a wrongful death lawsuit to recover damages for funeral expenses, emotional loss, and loss of financial support. Because the driver allegedly attempted to flee, punitive damages could also be considered to hold them accountable.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this tragic time.
