Pedestrian Jisabel Correa Bobadilla Dies in Santa Maria Vehicle Crash

Santa Maria, CA (December 3, 2024) – On December 3, 2024, at approximately 5:35 p.m., an 84-year-old pedestrian, Jisabel Correa Bobadilla, was struck by a vehicle.

Accident Details: The accident occurred at Orchard Street and North Broadway. Officers from the Santa Maria Police Department responded to the scene and found Bobadilla in the roadway. Emergency personnel quickly arrived, providing immediate care and transporting the victim to Marian Regional Medical Center. Unfortunately, Bobadilla died shortly thereafter.

Investigation: The vehicle driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Preliminary findings indicate that neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the incident. The driver’s identity has not been disclosed, and the investigation is ongoing.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination. Drivers owe a duty of care to ensure the safety of pedestrians. In this case, the driver must have exercised proper caution, especially in an area where pedestrians may be present. The driver may be liable if they are found negligent, such as distraction, inattention, traffic law violations, or other factors.

Investigators will also examine whether poor road conditions or mechanical failure contributed to the crash.

Wrongful Death: The family of Jisabel Correa Bobadilla may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim if they can establish that negligence caused the fatal incident. This claim may cover medical expenses, funeral costs, loss of companionship, and emotional distress.

I offer my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Jisabel Correa Bobadilla during this heartbreaking.
