Pedestrian Cervando Velasquez Killed in Multi-Car Collision on Pasadena Freeway

Pasadena, CA (June 13, 2024) – A three-car collision occurred on the Pasadena Freeway near Glendale, resulting in the death of a pedestrian, 57-year-old Cervando Velasquez.

Accident Details: California Highway Patrol officers arrived to find damaged vehicles and Velasquez lying in one of the eastbound lanes. The cause of the crash is unknown and still under investigation.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I believe many aspects of this case require further examination. If negligence is the cause of Velasquez’s death, his family may be able to file a wrongful death claim. Understanding the exact sequence of events that led to the multi-car collision is crucial when determining liability.

Driver Behavior and Possible Negligence: It is essential to assess the drivers’ behavior at the time of the accident. Speeding, distracted driving, or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs can raise questions of driver negligence.  Examining the drivers’ actions and conditions can help identify if driver negligence caused the accident.

Road Conditions and Visibility: The freeway conditions at the time of the accident, including lighting and visibility, must be evaluated. Poor visibility, inadequate lighting, or roadway hazards could have contributed to the collision.

Vehicle Conditions: It is also important to inspect the vehicles for potential mechanical failures. Were all the vehicles adequately maintained, and were their lights and signals functioning correctly? Mechanical issues can sometimes contribute to accidents, leaving the manufacturers and maintenance providers with potential liability.

My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Cervando Velasquez during this difficult time.
