Midland County, TX (March 2, 2025) – A three-vehicle collision in Midland County has claimed the life of 18-year-old Osmar Josue Guerrero and left multiple others injured. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) continues investigating the circumstances of the crash, which occurred on Sunday at approximately 8:55 p.m.
Incident Overview: A 2014 Ford Mustang failed to stop at a posted stop sign at the intersection of Business Interstate 20 and County Road 1140 and entered the path of a 2020 Ford Fusion traveling eastbound on Business Interstate 20. The Fusion struck the Mustang with significant force, propelling it into the eastbound lanes, where a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban traveling in the same direction then hit it.
Paramedics transported Osmar Josue Guerrero, a passenger in the Mustang, to Midland Memorial Hospital with critical injuries, and he died the following day. Pedro Antonio Lopez Jr., 22, of Penitas, who was driving the Mustang, sustained minor injuries. Gregory Kodi Boyd, 38, who was driving the Ford Fusion, also sustained minor injuries. Juanita Ford, 35, a passenger in the Ford Fusion, sustained serious injuries. Lisa Marie Ronk, 42, of Midland, who was driving the Suburban, sustained serious injuries. A 2-year-old girl riding in the Suburban also suffered injuries, but her condition has not been publicly disclosed.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: DPS is continuing to investigate the crash to determine if additional factors, such as speed, driver impairment, or distracted driving, may have contributed to the collision. The failure to stop at a stop sign raises potential questions about negligence or reckless driving by the Mustang’s driver.
Depending on investigation findings, the Guerrero family and the families of the injured may have legal grounds to pursue personal injury or wrongful death claims, seeking compensation for medical costs, funeral expenses, lost wages, and emotional distress.
I extend my condolences to the Guerrero family and wish all injured a speedy and complete recovery.
