Orlando Tello and Silvia Lemon Killed in Semi-Truck Crash on US-180 in Scurry County

Scurry County, TX (September 22, 2025) – Two people were killed and two others seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash west of Snyder on Monday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Accident Details: The crash occurred just after 9:00 p.m. on U.S. Highway 180 near County Road 264. DPS investigators reported that a pickup truck traveling westbound was following a semi-truck when a second semi-truck, traveling eastbound, crossed the centerline of the roadway. The eastbound truck collided with both the pickup and the westbound semi.

The driver and passenger of the pickup truck, identified as 32-year-old Orlando Tello and 59-year-old Silvia Lemon, both of Lamesa, died at the scene. The driver and passenger of the eastbound semi, 44-year-old Sid Rodriguez and 41-year-old Aleshia Lucero, sustained serious injuries. Rodriguez was transported to UMC Lubbock, while Lucero was taken to Hendrick Medical Center. The driver of the westbound semi was not injured.

Investigation: Authorities are working to determine what caused the eastbound semi-truck to veer into oncoming traffic. Investigators will likely examine whether fatigue, distraction, or a mechanical failure contributed to the crash. Vehicle inspections, skid mark analysis, and electronic logging device data may help clarify the sequence of events.

The Texas DPS is leading the investigation, which remains ongoing. Additional updates may be released once more details are confirmed.

Legal Considerations: Crashes involving commercial trucks often raise complex liability issues due to the potential involvement of multiple drivers, employers, and trucking companies. Families of wrongful death victims such as Tello and Lemon may pursue claims to recover funeral costs, lost income, and the emotional toll of losing loved ones.

Injury claims may also be pursued by Rodriguez and Lucero, who face significant medical expenses and long recovery periods. Trucking cases often hinge on detailed reviews of driver hours, maintenance records, and company safety practices.

This tragedy highlights the catastrophic consequences of semi-truck collisions and the importance of accountability in commercial trucking.

My thoughts are with the families of Orlando Tello and Silvia Lemon, and with Sid Rodriguez and Aleshia Lucero as they recover from this devastating crash.
