Los Angeles, CA (August 2, 2025) — One person was killed Saturday evening following a collision between a pickup truck and another vehicle on the DeSoto Avenue off-ramp of the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway in Woodland Hills.
Incident Details: The crash occurred at approximately 5:05 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Witnesses reported that one of the vehicles rolled over during the impact but landed upright, blocking the off-ramp. Debris was scattered across the roadway, and the full extent of involvement from each vehicle remains under investigation. The injured individual was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, age, or gender, and it is still unclear whether the deceased was a driver or passenger.
The DeSoto Avenue off-ramp was temporarily closed while officials conducted their investigation and cleared the scene.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but key questions will focus on whether either driver was speeding, made an unsafe lane change, or failed to yield while exiting the freeway. Investigators will also examine physical evidence, surveillance footage, and vehicle telemetry to reconstruct the incident and determine liability.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the deceased’s family may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.
