One Killed, Seven Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash in McLean County

McLean County, IL (April 27, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash in McLean County resulted in one fatality and injuries to seven others early Saturday morning.

Incident Details: According to Illinois State Police, the crash occurred around 2:00 a.m. on southbound Interstate 55 near milepost 155. Preliminary investigations revealed that a Chevrolet Impala traveling northbound crossed the median into the southbound lanes, striking a Chevrolet Traverse head-on. A third vehicle, a Toyota Camry, subsequently collided with the Traverse. The driver of the Impala, identified as 26-year-old Charmeaka Triplett of Bloomington, was pronounced dead at the scene. Seven occupants of the Traverse and Camry were transported to nearby hospitals with injuries ranging from serious to minor.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether impairment, fatigue, or other factors contributed to the Impala crossing into oncoming traffic. Toxicology reports and witness statements will assist in determining the circumstances surrounding the collision.
