Petaluma, CA (March 19, 2025) – One person was injured in a collision on the Caulfield Lane overpass Wednesday night. Another was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Accident Details: Shortly before 9:30 p.m., officers responded to reports from a community member about a crash involving at least two vehicles on the overpass. When officers arrived, they found two heavily damaged cars and one of the drivers suffering from injuries. The injured individual was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The other driver, identified as Andrea Gill, showed signs of impairment, prompting a DUI investigation by the Petaluma Police Department’s DUI Officer. She was arrested and booked on several charges, including suspicion of DUI causing injury and driving without a valid license. Gill’s vehicle was impounded, and she remained in custody as of Thursday morning, with a court appearance scheduled for Friday.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Driving under the influence is generally considered negligent. It impairs a person’s ability to operate a vehicle safely. Alcohol and drugs reduce reaction time, impair judgment, and increase the likelihood of making dangerous driving decisions—placing everyone on the road at risk.
Investigators will rely on toxicology reports, field sobriety test results, and statements from witnesses and first responders.
Depending on the results of the investigation, the injured individual may have grounds for a personal injury claim.
I wish the injured party a full and speedy recovery.
