Michigan Man Seriously Injured After Semi-Truck Rear-Ends SUV on I-49

Archie, MO (March 12, 2025) – A Greenwood man suffered serious injuries after his SUV was rear-ended by a semi-truck on northbound Interstate 49, just north of Missouri Route AA. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.

Incident Overview: The crash occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday when emergency responders were dispatched to northbound I-49 following reports of a two-vehicle collision. Upon arrival, authorities found that a 2005 Kenworth semi-truck, driven by a 54-year-old Kansas City man, had collided with the rear of a 2021 Cadillac XT-4.

The impact of the crash left the Cadillac’s driver, a 45-year-old Greenwood man, with serious injuries. Emergency personnel transported him to Cass Regional Medical Center for treatment. Officials confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The Cadillac was totaled, while the semi-truck sustained minor damage.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate as officials work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.

Authorities are examining what caused the semi-truck to fail to slow down in time. Investigators will assess whether driver distraction, speeding, mechanical failure, or other roadway conditions contributed to the collision.

Depending on the investigation results, the injured SUV driver might be able to file a personal injury claim to recover medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. If the semi-truck’s braking system or maintenance history is found to be faulty, the trucking company could face liability.

My thoughts are with the injured driver and their family during this difficult time.
