One Hospitalized After SUV and Tractor-Trailer Collide on Route 1 in Maine

Presque Isle, ME (July 28, 2025) — A two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer and a midsize SUV on Route 1 near Caribou Road sent one person to the hospital Monday afternoon. It caused temporary road closures, according to local authorities.

Incident Details: The collision occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m. near 39 Caribou Road. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene. Emergency crews responded swiftly and transported one individual to AR Gould Hospital. As of this writing, the extent of their injuries has not been disclosed. A portion of Route 1 was shut down to allow for cleanup and vehicle removal, resulting in temporary traffic delays before the road was reopened.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash. Investigators will typically examine factors such as speed, driver fatigue, vehicle maintenance records, and whether either driver failed to yield or follow traffic signals. Documentation from the scene, including witness statements and any available dashcam footage, will be key to establishing liability.

Pending the investigation’s findings, the injured party may have grounds for a personal injury claim to recover damages such as medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

Wishing the injured individual a full and swift recovery.
