Desert Hot Springs, CA (June 5, 2025) — A man was hospitalized early Wednesday morning following a violent two-vehicle crash caused by a red-light violation at a Desert Hot Springs intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Incident Details: The collision occurred around 3:00 a.m. at the intersection of Mountain View Road and Dillon Road. CHP investigators say a white Nissan Rogue driver was heading southbound on Mountain View when she ran a red light and broadsided a red Nissan Altima traveling eastbound on Dillon. The force of the impact caused the Altima to roll over and land on its roof.
Fire crews responded to the scene and had to extricate the male driver of the Altima from the overturned vehicle. He suffered a head injury and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. The woman driving the Rogue was not injured. CHP confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not suspected in the crash.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: CHP continues its investigation to identify the cause of the collision. Authorities will review traffic signal data, eyewitness statements, and surveillance footage. CHP will also examine whether vehicle malfunction or driver distraction played a role.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the injured driver of the Altima may have grounds for a personal injury claim to recover damages related to his medical treatment, vehicle loss, and pain and suffering.
I wish the injured man a full and swift recovery.
