One Driver Killed, Another Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Sheep Creek Road in Phelan

Phelan, CA (May 14, 2025) — A fatal two-vehicle collision Tuesday night on Sheep Creek Road in Phelan claimed the life of one driver and left another with minor injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department.

Incident Details: The crash occurred around 8:49 p.m. on May 13 near Sheep Creek Road and Chevoit Road. Authorities say a silver sedan and a dark-colored SUV collided, with the SUV overturning and landing on its roof, blocking both lanes of traffic. A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and called for emergency assistance.

Fire crews from Engine 10 responded and pronounced the driver of the silver sedan dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries and declined transport to the hospital after being evaluated. Both vehicles were towed from the scene, and Sheep Creek Road was temporarily closed while investigators processed the crash site.

Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact local authorities.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The CHP Victorville office is investigating to determine the cause of the collision. Officers will likely evaluate whether factors such as speed, road conditions, impaired driving, or failure to yield contributed to the crash.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the family of the deceased may have grounds for a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for funeral expenses, emotional distress, and loss of companionship.

I extend my condolences to the family and loved ones of the driver who lost their life.
