Will County, IL (July 29, 2025) — A tragic series of crashes involving semi-trucks on Peotone-Wilmington Road left one person dead and another seriously injured last Monday morning.
Incident Details: The first crash occurred around 10:45 a.m. near 120th Avenue and involved a passenger vehicle and a semi-truck. The car sustained extensive front-end damage, and the driver was pinned inside. Emergency responders extricated the victim, but one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others declined medical treatment.
Two hours later, a second crash occurred involving a semi-truck hauling a propane tanker that began leaking. The driver was trapped inside the cab and required extrication. Fire crews stopped the leak and transported the driver for medical care. Hazardous materials cleanup and road closures followed, supported by multiple fire protection districts and emergency management personnel.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Authorities actively investigate both crashes, focusing on safety protocols, driver conduct, and vehicle maintenance. This includes reviewing logbook records, black box data, and adherence to federal safety regulations.
Depending on the investigation’s outcome, the family of the deceased driver may be able to file a wrongful death claim. Such a claim could seek compensation for funeral expenses, lost income, and loss of companionship.
We extend our condolences to the family of the deceased and wish the injured a full recovery.
