McClain County, OK (May 3, 2025) – A tragic crash on northbound Interstate 35 early Saturday morning claimed the life of a 56-year-old man and at least one injured, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Accident Details: The fatal collision occurred near mile marker 104 on I-35 North in McClain County. Authorities say a sedan occupied by five people, including three juveniles, collided with a 2023 Mack semi-truck driven by a 41-year-old man.
The 56-year-old male driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. A 35-year-old female passenger was transported to OU Hospital for treatment. The conditions of the three juvenile passengers, all from Oklahoma City, were not disclosed at the time of reporting.
The semi-truck driver was treated at Norman Regional Hospital and released. The crash remains under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Investigation and Legal Considerations: Key elements investigators may examine include traffic camera footage, dashcam footage, skid marks, and vehicle positions, the speed of both vehicles, black box data from the semi-truck, and witness statements to determine the cause of the accident.
Depending on the findings of the investigation, the family of the sedan’s driver may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit and seek compensation for funeral costs, emotional suffering, and the loss of financial support. The injured woman in the sedan (and children if injured) may also have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim to recover costs related to medical care, rehabilitation, pain, and suffering.
I extend my condolences to the family and friends of the man who lost his life. I wish the injured a fast recovery.
