Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Oceanside Boulevard

Oceanside, CA (September 25, 2025) – An unidentified man was killed late Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash on Oceanside Boulevard, according to local authorities.

Accident Details: The collision occurred around 10:20 p.m. on eastbound Oceanside Boulevard, just west of El Camino Real. Police said the victim, an adult male, died from his injuries. His identity has not yet been released pending family notification. Using city surveillance footage and license plate reader technology, investigators identified the suspect vehicle as a 2020 Ford Ranger.

Community Response: News of the fatal Oceanside crash has saddened residents, particularly as details emerged that the driver initially fled the scene. Pedestrian safety advocates emphasized the devastating impact of hit-and-run crashes on families and communities, urging greater accountability from drivers. Residents expressed relief that surveillance tools were able to quickly identify the suspect vehicle and driver.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: Oceanside Police located the truck and contacted its registered owner, 65-year-old Yolanda Orozco, at her residence. Orozco admitted to being the driver and displayed signs of intoxication, leading to her arrest for felony hit-and-run and DUI-related charges. The investigation remains ongoing as police review evidence and interview witnesses. Fatal crashes involving intoxication and leaving the scene often carry severe criminal penalties and may give rise to civil wrongful death claims by the victim’s family.

Authorities reminded the public that impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident endanger lives and carry serious consequences under California law.

I extend my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim following this tragic Oceanside crash.
