6 People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash at Vineland Avenue and Vanowen Street in North Hollywood

Los Angeles, California (September 16, 2025) — Six people were injured Tuesday morning in a multi-car crash in North Hollywood that left vehicles overturned and briefly halted Metro service near the crash site. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed the incident occurred around 6:40 a.m. at the busy intersection of Vineland Avenue and Vanowen Street.

Incident Details: Emergency crews arrived to find a chaotic scene involving at least three vehicles, though officials later clarified that as many as five were part of the chain of collisions. One vehicle was found resting on top of another, while a second was overturned on its roof. Firefighters performed what they described as a “quick door pop” to extricate a trapped individual from one of the cars. Nearby train tracks were temporarily closed as a safety precaution, which caused Metro delays, but service resumed once the tracks were cleared.

Injuries Reported: Of the six people injured in the crash, five were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. A sixth individual declined hospital transport after being assessed at the scene. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved, and officials say all victims are expected to recover.

Investigation: The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an investigation into what caused the pileup. While it is too early to determine the exact sequence of events, investigators will review surveillance footage from nearby businesses and traffic cameras, as well as witness accounts, to reconstruct how the collision unfolded. Factors such as excessive speed, driver distraction, and possible red-light violations will be analyzed. The condition of the vehicles also will undergo inspection to determine if any mechanical failures contributed.

Multi-car collisions at major intersections like Vineland and Vanowen are particularly hazardous due to the volume of commuter traffic and the presence of cross-traffic and pedestrian activity. Officials are urging drivers to exercise extra caution during the morning rush, when congestion and hurried driving often increase crash risks.

The roadway was closed for several hours as crews cleared wreckage and reopened lanes. Normal traffic flow and Metro operations resumed later in the morning.

I extend my thoughts to those injured in this North Hollywood crash and wish them a full recovery.
