Napa County Suspected DUI Collision Injures Yuko Butler

Napa County, CA (October 28, 2024) – In Napa County on Monday night, a serious head-on collision involving a suspected DUI left Yuko Butler critically injured.

Accident Details: The accident occurred around 10:50 p.m. along Old Sonoma Road near Congress Valley Road in the Carneros area. Ganesh Singh of Napa was driving a 2000 Volvo S70 at high speed when he crossed the double-yellow lines into oncoming traffic. Singh collided head-on with a 2018 Honda HR-V driven by Yuko Butler, 56, also of Napa.

Butler sustained significant injuries and was transported to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center. Singh, who suffered moderate to major injuries, is receiving medical treatment and is expected to face a felony DUI charge for causing injury while allegedly driving under the influence.

Legal Considerations: As a personal injury attorney, I find that several aspects of this case warrant further examination.

  • DUI and Criminal Liability: Singh’s alleged impairment may lead to severe criminal and civil repercussions. California law imposes felony DUI charges on drivers who, while intoxicated, cause injuries to others. This case will likely involve an investigation into Singh’s blood alcohol content (BAC) or other impairing substances, which will play a key role in prosecuting the DUI charge.
  • Reckless or High-Speed Driving: Reports indicate Singh was driving at high speeds before crossing the center line. Driving at high speeds can amount to negligence because it increases the chance of collisions and puts other drivers and pedestrians at risk.

Victim’s Recovery and Compensation: Yuko Butler, who was seriously injured, may have grounds to file a personal injury claim and seek civil damages for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

I wish Yuko Butler a full recovery and healing during this difficult time.
