Lancaster, CA (June 9, 2024) – A devastating multiple-vehicle collision on East Avenue J resulted in the death of Marisa Franco, a 35-year-old woman, on Sunday night.
Accident Details: The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of the collision at 10:24 p.m. on Sunday, near the intersection of East Avenue J and 255th Street East. The crash involved three vehicles. The first was a black Toyota sedan. The second vehicle fled the scene. A third vehicle with a broken rear window and punched-out ignition was found a few hundred feet from the road. Preliminary reports suggest it was stolen. Unfortunately, Marisa Franco, who was reportedly a passenger in one of the vehicles, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Legal Considerations: As a personal injury lawyer, I find that many factors in this case warrant further examination. To establish negligence, it must be demonstrated that a party failed to exercise reasonable care, leading to the accident and resulting in injuries or death. The driver who fled the scene may be liable for negligence, as leaving the scene of an accident is not only illegal but can be indicative of potential fault or responsibility. Evaluating whether the vehicles involved were properly maintained can reveal if mechanical failures contributed to the crash. Franco’s family may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim if they can prove that Franco’s death resulted from negligence.
I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Marisa Franco during this incredibly difficult time.
