Multiple People Injured After Wrong-Way Crash in Antioch

Antioch, CA (April 23, 2025) – Several people were injured in a crash Tuesday night on Highway 4 in Antioch after a wrong-way driver, pursued by deputies, collided with other vehicles.

Incident Details: According to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop a suspect who fled in a silver sedan around 11:20 p.m. The driver entered eastbound Highway 4 traveling westbound, causing multiple collisions. The suspect’s car ultimately struck several vehicles before coming to a stop. The wrong-way driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while multiple victims from the other vehicles were injured and transported to local hospitals. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed.

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The crash is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators are focusing on the events that led to the pursuit, the manner in which the suspect entered the freeway, and the severity of injuries sustained by other motorists involved. Authorities are also evaluating pursuit protocols and whether additional safety measures could have prevented the crash.
