Lake Isabella, CA (September 27, 2024) – On September 27, 2024, 60-year-old Stephen Michael Prough of Weldon tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident near Lake Isabella.
Accident Details: The crash occurred around 5:05 p.m. on Highway 178 at McCray Road, according to reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The accident involved a collision between Prough’s Honda motorcycle and a Chevrolet truck driven by a 16-year-old. According to the CHP’s preliminary investigation, the Chevrolet was stopped at a stop sign on McCray Road, preparing to turn onto Highway 178. As the Chevrolet driver made the turn, his truck went into the path of the eastbound Honda.
Prough attempted to avoid the collision but lost control of the motorcycle, causing the Honda to slide into the side of the Chevrolet. The impact of the crash caused Prough to be partially ejected from his bike, and he tragically succumbed to his injuries on the scene. The driver of the truck remained and cooperated with authorities. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to have played a role in the accident.
